Eric Kaldor is a corporate attorney and a name partner at Rand Kaldor and its former incarnation, Rand, Kaldor & Zane.
History[]
Eric Kaldor is an attorney who worked at Jarvis, Green, Ellis, where he eventually reached the rank of senior partner. After the firm and its name partners were being investigated for money laundering, associate Samantha Wheeler informed Robert Zane to pick two people within the firm that were old enough with whom he could takeover the firm. Robert picked Eric and Ellen and ousted Jarvis, Green and Ellis, forming Rand, Kaldor & Zane.[1]
Following Jessica Pearson's resignation from Pearson Specter Litt, her subsequent disbarment and the restructuring of her old firm into Specter Litt, Ellen and Eric conspired with a number of their senior partners who were former PSL partners, to file a lawsuit with the help of Stanley Gordon against Specter Litt. The purpose of the suit was to have the partners return to Specter Litt and use their voting power to have the firm sold to RKZ, a move which would not only have eliminated Specter Litt's existence but would have allowed Eric and Ellen to oust Robert from their firm.[2]
However, his plan was ruined when Mike Ross and Louis Litt convinced Zane to leave RKZ, join Specter Litt, and to bring associates and partners loyal to him in the process, thereby preventing the other partners from using a majority vote to sell the firm. Robert's departure forced Rand, Kaldor & Zane to become Rand Kaldor, while Specter Litt transitioned into Zane Specter Litt,[3] with Eric assuming the role of managing partner.
In order to impress Robert, Samantha attempted to poach one of Eric's clients. Not wanting to lose the client, Eric fabricated a false document that claimed Samantha did work for the client before and therefore possessed insider information. After digging into Samantha's past, Eric discovered that she had buried evidence and that Betty Palmer, a former senior associate forced to relocate to Coral Gables, Florida, was aware of it. Hiring the associate back as a junior partner in exchange for her information, Eric threatened to report her if she not only did not cease her attempts to poach his client, but if she also gave him her oldest client. Samantha agreed, but only under the condition that her client went to Betty and not Eric and that Betty would be promoted to senior partner.[4]
Shortly after, Daniel Hardman filed a lawsuit against Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams on behalf of Simon Lowe, though he agreed to drop the suit if he was made name partner. As Harvey and Louis would not accept him back into the firm, Robert attempted to have Eric and Ellen take Hardman as a name partner; however, Eric only accepted under the condition that Robert stepped down and resigned, which Robert refused.[5]
The next morning, Samantha notified Harvey that three of Robert's clients put them in review while six of them refused to take her call, explaining that the only reason clients would leave this fast is if someone else was pushing them to do so. Harvey initially believed that Hardman is behind it until Samantha discloses that the client notices were dated two days ago, prior to Robert's disbarment, and tells Harvey that they need to pay a visit to Eric. Meanwhile, Alex enters his office only to run into Thomas, who informs Alex that he and his company are his or the firm's clients.
Samantha and Harvey headed to an ice hockey rink where they witness Eric play. Eric skated over to them, proudly stating that he had notified Robert's clients that he would be stepping down, as he believed Robert would have accepted his original offer of stepping down to defeat Hardman, only to be viewed as Nostradamus in the wake of Robert's disbarment. He attempted to drive a wedge between the pair but fails, and proceeded to offer to stop poaching Robert's clients if Harvey gave him ten of his personal clients, claiming to Samantha that Harvey is the reason Robert got disbarred. As he calls her "sweet pea", she pushed him against the screen, and he stated that they should reconsider his offer before informing Samantha that if she touched him again, he would have her disbarred as well.
Not wanting to betray his word to Samantha to prevent Robert's name from being removed or have Robert's sacrifice be in vain, Harvey headed to Eric's office and hand delivered his ten clients.[6]
