Kenny Verdasco was an alumnus of Apple Creek High School and a former infantry soldier veteran. Kenny, along with 199 other teachers and/or students of Apple Creek, developed cancer as a result of the school being built on top of an uncapped oil well owned and operated by Emerson Petroleum. Verdasco struggled to live his life and became the face of the class-action lawsuit, represented by Jessica Pearson of Pearson Hardman. Following Travis Tanner's introduction to the case, Kenny was visited by a man under Tanner's purview, and was offered a settlement of $250,000. However, after Harvey Specter obtained proof of Tanner's criminal intimidation, a new settlement agreement was reached, and Verdasco was paid $2 million in punitive damages by Emerson.
