Stephen Faulkner is a representative of the New York State Bar Association who was sent to convince Alex Williams to have Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams remove Robert Zane's firm following his disbarment.
History[]
- "Look, I know what Robert did was unethical, but it was one mistake. We're talking about a man's legacy."
"And leaving his name up doesn't just hurt the legacy of your firm, it's hurting the integrity of the Bar."
"And what if I don't see it that way? More importantly, what if my partners don't? Because it's not my call."
"Let's just say it would be to everyone's benefit if you and your partners take that name down of your own accord." - ―Alex Williams and Stephen Faulkner
Following Robert Zane's statement during the New York State Bar's Ethics Committee that it was he who had broken attorney-client privilege, the NYSB had him disbarred. The following day, the Bar sent Stephen Faulkner to convince Alex Williams to remove Robert's name from the firm, claiming that not only did it affect the firm's reputation but that it affected the Bar as well. When Alex was hesitant to do so, Faulkner informed him that it would be in the firm's benefit if they removed the name of their own accord, implying that the Bar had the power to alter a firm's name themselves.
Faulkner gives Alex a phone call shortly after to discuss the matter further, where Alex reveals to Faulkner that there is no precedent for the Bar being able to remove a name partner. Faulkner admits that they do not have that power, but that they do have the authority to install a new managing partner if they are displeased with a firm's management. Faulkner suggests that Alex replace Louis Litt as managing partner and that he should remove Robert's name. After the firm refuses to honor both requests, the Bar appoints Faye Richardson to take over as managing partner of Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams.[1]
